I've blogged about prices before, but after spending the weekend in England visiting Sean I really can't believe how expensive some things are in the UK. For example...
I took a train from Torun to Poznan on Friday morning, it's 141km distance (maybe 90 miles), and it cost 23zl, it converts to about £4.85. I arrived in Bristol and took a train from there to Yeovil, this is a distance of about 40 miles, and how much? £26.80!!!! It's about 10 times more expensive per mile!
It's interesting how the price in each country's currency is roughly the same though, isn't it? As a Pole living in America, I find most prices in the US are roughly 3 to 4 times as in Poland, whereas the currency exchange rate is comparable to that as well...
ReplyDeleteIt's true, a lot of things here are 4/5 times cheaper than in the UK, and the exchange rate makes it about the same. Wealth is all relative. The problem comes though when you go abroad, and everything is so much more! but you earn a smaller salary in your country..some things aren't so cheap too, they are about the same as they would be in England so in comparison to wages they're much more expensive, it depends what you're shopping for!
